About our namesake – Father Hippolyte Leduc

Regarded as one of the foremost early advocates for Catholic education in the history of the province of Alberta, Father Leduc’s contribution to Alberta was substantial and inspirational.
Father Hippolyte Leduc, from whom the City of Leduc also derives its name, spent his life in the service of the church and the people of Alberta.
He became a member of the Northwest Territories Board of Education, was a school inspector, and was instrumental in convincing the government that separate school education should be funded. He also worked with the Grey Nuns and assisted in establishing the Misericordia Hospital.

About Father Leduc Catholic School’s grade configuration

Father Leduc currently serves over 640 students and their families through Kindergarten to Grade 8.

Leduc Reconfiguration Process

In the Spring of 2015, STAR Catholic Schools held its Leduc Reconfiguration Spring Consultation. With the addition of Father Leduc Catholic School, STAR Catholic examined various reconfiguration factors and over a three month consultation process sought feedback from parents, staff and stakeholders to arrive at an informed, preferred, attainable and sustainable solution. A preferred community alternative was presented and approved by the Board of Trustees in June 2015.
